Religion and Politics and a Cover Upgrade! (Hardback coming soon!)

Hello, my friends and the occasional relative!

Politics and Religion. Religion and politics. The advice is not to talk about it in polite company.

So I wrote a book centered on faith and religion, and I’m writing a book about politics, power, and the self-serving nature of rulers.

These are the choices of the writer as hobbyist.

Interestingly I put The Killer and The Dead out for free in July, a simple tale about a serial killer and his love/hate relationship with his family – another straightforward book! And a ton of people picked it up, which was great – the more people that think about reading it the better. A review or two would be nice, just sayin’. The give-away did not spark much in the way on ancillary sales of the other two books. Okay, is what it is.

And then this month I gave away The Gardener and the Goddess. A fraction of the number of freebies were picked up in comparison to TKATD: perhaps my blurb is too front forward about faith and belief, perhaps the idea of reading about a religion, even a fantasy one, is just not people’s cup of tea. I’m going to have to think about that, test it a bit more to see if that is the issue, or something else in the book’s presentation. But a funny other thing happened – a much bigger sell on (and this is not a lot, but when numbers are small, small differences look big!) on both other books, far more than the previous month.

Could be the publication order: hard for a middle child to get any love, and that is what The Killer and The Dead now is. Having sweetpea, the baby of the group, in the give-away category encouraged folk to pick up the first two. Interesting. Next month I’ll do a freebie on The Thief and The Demon, and see what the sell on is like for the other two. I’m intrigued to see how the free pick ups and the sales go, relative to the other two promotions.

Of course, by then The Thief and The Demon will have a hardcover available on sale for the first time! I now have the it, and will release the new cover to ebook, paperback and hardback cover this weekend! See how I bury the lede?

Until next week, my friends, may your reviews be plentiful, and your cover refreshes profitable!

Here is the new cover. The old cover remains on the site for now, but will be replaced this week. It’s just a bigger, brighter font, nothing earthshaking, but a step in the the right direction. And in hardback. Did I say that already?
