Time and Balance

Hello, my friends and the occasional relative!

Another week passes. This time next week I hope to have released the new hardback version of The Thief and The Demon. I will share here the new cover when I receive it.

I have been working on getting set up to do the narration of my books. Doing it even vaguely correctly is going to take a while. I remain committed, but am going to take the time to work with my musician brother to get the set up, and the software just right.

Later this week I’ll be giving away The Gardener and The Goddess for a few days, so if you want to grab an ebook, it will be there for you!

I continue to work on the theory of writing. The Story Grid remains very interesting. There is a lot of freedom in there, beneath what appears to be formulaic. It will take some time to properly digest. I was tempted to buy another book by William Zinsser, but decided that it would be another form of procrastination.

Instead it is time to write. Edit and polish later. Write the hooks that hook me, think later about whether or not it would hook an audience. Write the mysteries that intrigue me, work later on making them more alluring to an audience. Fun now, exploration now. Graft and breaking down story and remaking it later.

I’ll do what I can when I have time. I’m working to buy myself more time by reducing worthless distractions. (My friend the algo) Worthwhile distractions, like learning, time with friends, with my wife? Those are not distractions, they are building blocks for future writing, they are balance.

Be balanced my friends.
